Homework
Homework:
Reading homework is posted in Schoology in the Reading Course. Homework is due on the assigned due date. Students may turn in homework late, up to three days. Each day the homework assignment is late, 10 points is deducted. For example, one day late -10 points, two days late -20 points, and three days late (last day to turn in) -30 points.
Grading and Tests:
Throughout the year, students will take several assessments to monitor your child's growth. We will go over your child's scores during our conferences.
We will be using a traditional report card with percentage scores for each subject area. Your child's grade will be composed from in class work, projects, and tests. Each type of assignment will be weighted as follows:
District Tests/Major- 60%
In class work/Minor- 30%
Homework/Participation- 10%
Students will also be participating in the Accelerated Reading (AR) Program. Student's goals will be set each nine weeks. It is important students read thoroughly their book before testing. We are looking for at least 85% accuracy. Students will be able to check out 1 library book at a time. After they have tested on the book, they may return to the library to check out another new book to work on for AR testing. Students who meet their AR goal each nine weeks will receive recognition.
